Long story short: 22 years old; total mess. College drop-out; girlfriend exits; landlord declines to renew lease; working as a goddamned barista; dead end path. Move up 4 hours north, away from friends and everybody else, to total isolation in rural Maine; work 60 hours a week in father's cabinet shop; save money to go back to school; get to know father and connect a lot of personal dots; total attitude and perspective overhaul. Side mission: write / record one song a week. Ok, so some songs take more than one week. Every second of free time spent in the shop after hours or bedroom with Tascam 414 cassette 4-track, acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, boss RV-3 reverb/delay pedal and boss OS-2 distortion pedal, 1 shure sm-58 microphone...and whatever else I could find around the shop. Result: 12 songs in 6 months.
